Join Get On The Bus, a national youth transit movement driven by Small Change Fund, as we launch our brand-new Train-the-Trainer Guide. This practical tool is designed to help communities support youth in using public transit with confidence and independence. Our interactive webinar will feature two leading voices in youth transit engagement:
Dan Hendry, co-founder of Get On The Bus, is a public transit education expert with over 15 years of experience and the architect behind the Kingston High School Transit Pass Program. His innovative work engaging youth in sustainable transit solutions has inspired communities across the country.
Sophia Young, a youth transit advocate and environmental engineering student, began her advocacy journey at just fifteen. After witnessing the challenges youth face accessing reliable transit, she led a campaign in Regina, Saskatchewan that secured unanimous city council support for fare-free transit for children under 13. Now, over 36,000 young people have access to equitable transportation! Sophia continues to build community and capacity for the youth transit movement in Edmonton and across the country.
During the session, Dan and Sophia will walk participants through:
How to set up and run a youth-focused transit training program
What to include in on-bus orientation
Common questions and feedback from youth
Tips for integrating training into broader fare-free or youth mobility efforts.
Whether your community is just starting out or already implementing youth transit initiatives, this guide, and this session, will give you the tools and inspiration to take the next step. Register today and learn how to support young people in becoming confident, empowered transit riders.
