About Burhanuddin
Burhanuddin has spent his university career discovering what makes him tick as a person. By pursuing various types of projects and chasing many flavours of experiences, such as working for an affordable housing construction company in Kenya, he has found his love in life: using his engineering skills to build communities. Through his organization Civil Connect, Burhanuddin empowers both young people and their communities by giving youth avenues to deliver concept designs for projects. These projects let youth participate in the designing of the infrastructure that their communities will develop. With Civil Connect’s encouragement, young people are able to deploy climate friendly, sustainable and accessible solutions for issues that their communities face. Burhanuddin is not just an aspiring engineer. He’s a community fanatic through and through. He also provides programs in his mosque, taking on executive roles, and is an active campus advocate, pushing for safe sleeping spaces on campus along with greater interfaith dialogue. All in all, Burhanuddin tries to live out what he deems is an engineer’s true responsibility: to build a strong future, for himself and his communities.
